Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
We are a team of orchid hobbyists, active in the American Orchid Society (AOS), as well as our local orchid societies. We have been passionately growing orchids for over 15 years, and saw a need for a community marketplace where orchid fanciers could exchange ideas, tips, and of course, Orchids!
Orchid Exchange is where vendors, orchid breeders, and hobbyists meet to buy & sell rare, unique, and beautiful orchids. Many of the OE vendors create their own hybrids, some of which are awarded by the AOS. We look forward to growing your collection beautifully!
Our verified sellers, are passionate and dedicated growers. Our vendors have years of experience, and many of them do their own hybridizing. Some of vendors are also AOS judges. We strive to bring you the best orchids. If there is something special that you are looking for, or just starting your orchid collection, we have something for every experience level.
We occasionally offer Pre-Sale orders for orchid shows. Most of the vendors offering Pre-Sales are from other countries, and have limited product available for purchase. Due to the limited offering of plants, most are hard to find varieties, not available in mass production.
We recommend ordering early to ensure you will receive the plants you want, before they are gone. Plant Pre-Sales can either be picked up at the show (no shipping charges will be applied) or can be shipped (once vendors are stateside/shipping charges will be applied).
We are a proud sponsor of the 2016 AOS Fall Members meeting at Huntington Botanical Library and Gardens, San Marino, CA.
The American Orchid Society (AOS) hosts meeting on a bi-annual basis, usually in the Spring and Fall. You do not have to be a member of the AOS to attend but there is a fee to hear the speakers, luncheons, banquets, etc. Meeting location varies but is typically held in conjunction with an orchid show and/or host orchid society.
The 2016 AOS Fall Members meeting will be held at Huntington Botanical Library and Gardens, San Marino, CA. For details please visit the website www.aosfall2016.com
Joining and starting a shop on Orchid Exchange is, and always will be, free. We are using one simple flat fee: a transaction fee.
Once an item sells, there is a 10% transaction fee on the sale price (not including shipping costs or tax if required). We do not charge a separate processing fee, listing fees, or any other type of absurd fee, it is all included.
With our easy-to-use and secure payment system, you may accept payments from a wide variety of payment methods including credit or debit cards, and PayPal. Once you receive a sale, funds are sent to you depending on how the customer pays. If they use the Strip credit card processing form, and you are connected to Stripe, you are paid instantly. Similarly, if a customer pays via PayPal, and you are connected to PayPal, you will be paid Instantly. For orders that take place from Stripe and if you are not connected to Stripe, will take up to a week to process. We typically process charges within 24 hours, but it could be as long as a week. These funds will be deposited directly to your Paypal account.

Short version: you are able to sell any orchid or orchid related product as long as it is legal.
Our sellers have 100% autonomy and control over their descriptions. As a result, product descriptions are displayed as the seller intends. We always encourage our sellers to be as descriptive as possible and include photos, but that is not always available. We have a “Ask a Question” feature for each vendor, which allows a customer to make an inquiry prior to purchasing.
